Tight and wide canopy holds the raindrop from falling directly to the soil surface so that it reduces erosion and increase the water absorption into the soil. Its roots are also able to prevent the landslides. Additionally, its leafs are so dense (ten thousands of leafs) that can absorb carbondioxide and release oxygen in a great volume. This means it helps solve Global Warming problems.

 

As a source of alternative energy...

The core seed of Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma can be processed into Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma oil and that would be the source of alternative energy in replacement with BioDiesel. The extraction leftovers can be processed into BioGas. From 3 kgs leftovers can produce 1.5 m3 of BioGas and that equals to 1 litre of kerosene. Finally, The waste from BioGas can be used for urea fertilizer.

 

Develop people's economy...

Eventually, the end products could help the community in terms of kerosene consumption reduction and fertilizer. In more financial terms, with productivity assumption for each Kemiri Reutealis Trisperma tree for more than 7 years, it can produces more or less 300 kg dry seeds yearly. The price of dry seed ranges from Rp. 300 to 500 per kg. So, the yearly income for each tree would be from Rp. 90.000 to Rp. 150.000. If each Ha has 50 trees, then the total income would be from Rp. 4.500.000 to Rp. 7.500.000 per year.
